Presenting a Paper

All papers in IECON 2018 will be orally presented in one of two formats:

  • Oral-only sessions: each author will have 10 minutes for presentation, followed by up to 5 minutes Q&A. Presentations in PowerPoint format must be uploaded to the computers available in the breakout rooms before the corresponding session.
  • Oral-interactive sessions: each author will have 3 minutes for introducing the main contributions of his/her work. Presentations in PowerPoint format must be uploaded to the computers available in Palladian ballroom before the corresponding session. Note that there will be always two parallel interactive sessions in this ballroom, so make sure your presentation is downloaded to the right computer. After initial presentations, there will be poster boards and tables for authors to display materials / demos and interact with the audience. If you plan to use a poster, please make sure it is posted before the start of the session.
  • Note: There is no predefined powerpoint template for presentation.

Interactive sessions will facilitate poster boards:

Size: 48"x94” (122cm x 239cm)
Velcro & push-pin compatible
Double-sided, horizontal
Push-pin area: 45”x91” (114cm x 231cm) - these are large poster "stands", your poster should be of much smaller dimensions (just cannot be larger than the push-pin area).

Presentation by an author:

Ideally, the primary author or one of the co-authors will attend the conference and present their contribution. This is the classical way of participating in conferences, and authors gain the greatest professional benefits.
3.B. By a colleague: If the primary author or any of the co-authors cannot attend, then a qualified colleague may present the paper. A qualified colleague is one who is familiar with the technical field, and is capable of discussing the issues. The primary author or co-authors would miss the technical interaction, but fulfill professional obligations. NOTE: Full registration must be paid even if the qualified colleague is an author of another (different) paper in the conference.
Papers that do not meet one of these requirements (3.A or 3.B) will be noted as "No Show" and will not be submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore® Digital Library. These cases do not qualify for registration refund.

Note: "No Show" papers will NOT be submitted for inclusiong in IEEE Xplore® Digital Library. As "No Show papers are copyrighted, these papers cannot be re-published without permission from the IEEE.

According to the above policy, IECON 2018 will publish and distribute at the Conference a Proceedings with copyrighted content.
